What the course covers

Falls from height are the biggest cause of fatal accidents in construction. The course covers:

  • Working at height hazards
  • Working at height legislation
  • Risk assessment for work at height
  • The safe work at height hierarchy
  • Equipment selection for work at height

Who is it for?

Anyone whose work takes them off the ground – on ladders, steps, scaffolds, roofs, platforms or mobile towers. That includes construction workers, roofers, electricians, plumbers, painters, maintenance and facilities staff, warehouse staff and farmers.

Is working at height training a legal requirement?

Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, employers must give employees the training they need to do their job safely, and the work at height rules in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 require work at height to be planned, supervised and carried out by competent people. Working at height training is how most employers show their staff have been trained.

This online course covers the theory and awareness. If your job involves specific equipment such as a harness, a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) or scaffolding, you will also need practical training on that equipment.
